“…as Rt.Hon Abel hails managements of vocational institute Lafia, COE Akwanga over good performance
Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Education, has commended Dr Daniel Ewuga Asele, the Executive Director of Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia for his efforts in taking the institute to a greater height in the state.
Rt. Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman of the committee and Deputy Majority Leader of the House gave the commendation during an oversight function to the institute today in Lafia.
Abel, who represents Nassarawa Eggon West constituency said they were at the institute to assess its 2024 budget performance
“We are here on Oversight, the exercise is a routine one
” We will continue to support you to succeed considering the importance of the institute to our youths and the state at large” He said.
” I want to commend the Executive Director for the good work you are doing here
” You are impacting positively on the lives of our people” he added.
The lawmaker further commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in developing the institute.
Earlier, Dr Daniel Ewuga Asele, the Executive Director, Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia while presenting the institute’s 2024 budget performance appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his passion in skills development in the state.
Asele also appreciated the committee and the House for giving their maximum support to the institute to succeed.
It would be reported that the committee inspected Auto Machine Workshop, Fitting Workshop, Leather Workshop, ICT, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Workshop, Carpentry and Joinery as well as Welding Workshop among others.
In a related development, the committee also visited College of Education Akwanga on an oversight function.
The Chairman of the Committee, Rt. Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala urged the management of the institution to ensure that quality education is provided to the students
He said that the visit was not to witch-hunt anybody but to assess the institution’s 2024 budget performance.
Abel appreciated Gov. Sule for funding the education sector in the state and called for its sustenance.
” Our earnest gratitude goes to His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his passion in taking the education sector to the greater height in the state” he said.
The Chairman assured of the committee’s continuous support to the institution to succeed.
He urged the management to braze up and tackle the issue of fake certificates and half baked graduates emanating from the institution.
Earlier, Dr Jonathan Thani, the Provost, College of Education Akwanga appreciated the committee for the support the college is enjoying from them.
He also thanked Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in funding the school and called for more in that direction.
” We are doing our best in ensuring academic excellence in this institution,” he said.
He said that the institution is in talk with Nasarawa State University Keffi on affiliation in order to run 20 courses for degree programme’s.
He stressed that the institution has stepped up efforts to track suspected issues of fake certificates.
The Provost disclosed that there is ongoing renovation of hostels and rehabilitation of water projects among other projects in the institution.
He said that the school has gotten assistance from Total Energy, TEFUND among others for the development of the school.
The Provost however, enumerated some of the challenges facing the school to include augmentation of salary payment, gratuity, casual staff among others
It would be reported that the committee inspected the institution’s ICT, ongoing hostels renovation, Agricultural Science Department among others.
