“… as Gov. Sule approves state government sponsorship of 92 indigenes to study in the institution…”

Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee on Education, Science and Technology, has commended Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the first Executive Governor of the State and former National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) for establishing Phoenix University Agwada, Kokona LGA of the State.

This, the House said will enhance educational status of the State as know society grows beyond its education standard calling on citizens to patronize the institution.

Rt. Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman of the committee and Deputy Majority Leader of the House gave the commendation when he led other members of the committee to the school today Friday.

He said that the visit was at the instance of Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House, following a request by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullahi Bala for facility tour to assess the status of the University.

” We want to thank Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, who graciously permits us to be here today

” Last week, the Vice Chancellor of the Phoenix University was in the House and requested the House to come and see the facilities in the University, hence the need for this visit,” he said.

According to him, we have went round and see for ourselves the facilities on ground. The facilities are of international standard.

” We will ensure that as lawmakers we mobilise our constituents to patronize the University “

Hon. Abel said that the House was happy that the former Governor of the State established the University considering the importance of education to societal development.

” His Excellency, the former Governor of the State, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu has done well for establishing the University, this will open more doors for our people to study as know State grow beyond its educational status” he said.

He assured of the House collaboration for the growth and development of the university and the state at large.

” I want to assure you of our readiness to partner with you and to support the growth of this institution,” he added.

Hon. Abel also assured of the 24 members readiness to encourage their constituents and others to patronise the University.

” I want to call on other stakeholders to patronise the University

” I also want to call on all citizens to support Phoenix University to succeed,” he said.

The committee chairman commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for approving state government sponsorship of 92 students to study in the University.

” I want to commend His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his zeal and passion for education sector in the state

” For His Excellency to approve state government sponsorship of 92 indigenes of the state to study in the University among other gestures, he deserves commendation” he said.

Hon. Abel urged the University to take the issue of security of staff and students seriously.

The committee assured of enabling environment for teaching and learning through good laws and resolutions.

Earlier, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, the Vice Chancellor of the University appreciated the House committee for the visit.

” We are very delighted with this visit as it will afford you to see facilities put in place in this University

” We are happy to have you as some stakeholders were able to come and see what we have in the University,” he said.

Bala, who is the immediate part Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna said that the University was given licensed to operate on 9th June, 2023.

He said that the University was founded by Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the former Governor of the State.

” Presently, the University has given approval for 24 programmes with 3 faculties and 8 departments” he said.

The VC disclosed that the University is working hard on admission in order to commence academic activities.

He urged elites and other stakeholders of the State to support the University to grow fast.

The Vice Chancellor assured of quality education and academic excellence in the institution.

He assured of adequate security in the institution in the interest of the staff and students among others.

It would be reported that the committee inspected facilities at the institution’s Auditorium, hall, ICT, classes among others.
