Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, Ethics and Privileges, has assured of its determination to synergize with the state government through the Ministry of Justice in order to ensure quick administration of justice in the state.
Barr. Esson Mairiga, the Chairman of the Committee stated this when the management of the Ministry of Justice led by the Commissioner Barr. Labaran Magaji among others appeared before the committee on their 2024 budget performance today in Lafia.
He said that for the state to ensure quick administration of justice, all hands must be on deck to actualize it.
Barr. Esson said that the committee decided to invite them to assess their 2024 budget performance.
” Rt Hon Speaker, has directed all the House standing committees to embark on oversight function
” As the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has empowered us to do so.
” We will continue to support you to succeed,” he said
Esson appreciated Barr. Labaran Magaji, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice for ensuring administration of justice in the state.
He urged the Commissioner of Justice to continue to build on the solid foundation he has put In place so far.
Earlier, Barr Labaran Magaji, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice appreciated the committee for supporting judicial activities to succeed in the state.

The Commissioner told the committee that Gov. Abdullahi Sule is a respecter of law
” We practice separation of power and rule of law. Transparency is the watch word of this government,” he said.
The commissioner also assured of his ministry’s commitment to ensure quick administration of justice in the state.
Also appearing before the committee was the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) led by the Executive Secretary of the commission, Yahaya Yakubu Shafa where he appreciated the committee for supporting their activities to succeed.
The Executive Secretary also thanked Gov Abdullahi Sule for funding the judicial sector in the state.
He appealed to the state government for the payment of 40 per cent peculiar allowance to judicial workers in the state.
Also appeared before the committee were the managements of High Court of Justice, Lafia led by the Chief Registrar, Barr Fatima Labaran, Customary Court of Appeal led by its Chief Registrar, Barr. Lawal Musa and Sharia Court of Appeal led by its Chief Registrar, Hadiza Aminu Abubakar.
They all appreciated the committee for supporting their activities to succeed.
They identified peculiar allowance and non release of funds as some of the challenges facing them.
