The Nigeria Union of Jourrnalists (NUJ) and the All-China Journalists Association on Wednesday in Abuja, renewed an agreement to strengthen and broaden the collaboration and relationship between them.
The NUJ President, Dr Chris Isiguzo in company of his national exco members lauded the existing mutual and beneficial relationship between Nigerian and Chinese journalists.
According to Isiguzo, the experience and knowledge impacted on Nigerian journalists in their various interactions with their Chinese Counterparts as well as during their visit to China is commendable.
He emphasised the importance of the media in building stable and progressive national economies.
“I hoped that the partnership with the All-China Journalists will continue to thrive.
“I am delighted and happy with the renewal of of the existing relationship with Chines journalists through the signing of the instrument of coorperation, following the expiration of the old one,” Isiguzo said.
Speaking through an Interpreter, the Executive Secretarry of the All-China Journalists Association, Ms Wu Xu, who is also the leader of the Chinese delegation, appreciated Isiguzo for his hospitality to the team.
She added that Nigeria is a unique and beautiful country,
According to her, the Association is made up of many important media organisations from almost all the Provinces in China,
“I hope that deeper conversations can be had between both sides to further deepen the relationship.
“I hereby extend an invitation to the NUJ to send more Nigerian journalists and officials to China. We have a lot of global events and hope that Nigerian Journalists can attend,” Xu said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the high point of the event was the signing of the renewal of the agreement by Isiguzo and Xu.
NAN also report that Xu and her team were taken on a tour to Abuja Council of the NUJ, Headquarters of the Leaderrship Newspapers at Utako and AIT/Raypower Stations at Asokoro.
