The Director-General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, says that VON has entered a renewed partnership with the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) towards improving its Swahili broadcasts.
Ndace made this known during a media parley with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to him, the partnership has been sealed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and signed by himself and the Director-General of TBC, Dr Ayub Rioba Chacha in Tanzania.
He said that the signing of the MoU marked a significant step towards improving Swahili broadcasts and fostering bilateral cooperation.
“One of the key elements of the partnership is an exchange programme to enhance the reporting skills and language proficiency of VON’s Swahili reporters, thereby improving the quality of its Swahili programming.
“Another is content sharing to enrich their programming with high-quality, diverse content. This collaborative effort is expected to provide audiences in both Nigeria and Tanzania with more engaging and informative broadcasts.
“For our technological collaboration, the two organisations will work together to enhance their broadcasting infrastructure, share technological innovations and best practices to improve overall capabilities.
“The cultural exchange initiatives will include cultural exchange programmes designed to promote mutual understanding and appreciation of each nation’s cultural heritage.
“In addition, there will be special broadcasts highlighting Tanzanian and Nigerian cultures to celebrate the diversity and unity of African societies,” Ndace said.
The VON director-general explained that the expected outcome included enhanced Swahili broadcasting, professional development, broader audience reach and strengthened bilateral relations.
Ndace expressed optimism about the partnership, saying that it was a testament of VON’s commitment to enhancing its broadcasting capabilities and delivering high-quality content to its audiences.
According to the VON boss, Chacha echoes this sentiment, highlighting the mutual benefits of the partnership and the importance of cultural exchange in fostering understanding and unity across Africa.
“The renewed partnership between VON and TBC represents a significant milestone in the journey towards a more connected and culturally enriched African media landscape.
“As both organisations work together to deliver exceptional programming, this collaboration is set to elevate the standards of broadcasting and strengthen the bonds,” Ndace said. (NAN)
