The Federal Government has urged Nigerian youth to take advantage of its various development programmes to showcase their skills and innovative ideas.
Mr Peter Tokoni, Special Adviser to the President on ICT Development and Digital Innovation, stated this at a news conference in Abuja on the forthcoming Nigeria Youth Stakeholders Conversation 3.0 (NYSConversation ),
Tokoni was represented by Amukoyo Onome, Special Adviser on Special Duties in his office.
He said the government was investing in digital infrastructure to drive innovation in every sector and maximise youth potential for national development.
“We are providing infrastructure, training, and other innovative ideas to ensure maximum productivity from the youth and the general public,” he said.
Mr Blessing Oyefeso, Co-Convener of the Nigeria Youth Stakeholders Conversation, urged government and stakeholders to harness Nigerian youth talents and skills for sustainable development.
He said that Nigeria had what it takes to advance its social economy and sustainable development.
“The Nigeria Youth Stakeholders Conversation 3.0, scheduled for Aug. 27, aims to promote digital economy transition, amplify Nigeria’s global competitiveness in the digital economy, and achieve sustainable growth.”
Mr Blessing Oyefeso, the Co-Convener of Nigeria Youth Stakeholders Conversation (NYSConversation), briefing on the event, urged government at all levels and stakeholders to be patriotic in harnessing Nigeria youth talents and skills for sustainable development.
Oyefeso, the Executive Director, Nigeria Youth in Politics, said Nigeria has what it takes to advance the country’s social economy and sustainable development.
He said there was need for the country to look inward and tap into the potential of its millions of youths.
As part of strategies to harness Nigeria youth talents for development, Oyefeso said that Nigeria Youth in Politics in collaboration with other stakeholders would on Aug. 27 hold a discussion on strategies to advance sustainable development.
He said that the event with the theme “Digital Economy Transition; Pathway to Global Competitiveness and Sustainable Growth” would hold at the International Conference Centre (Exhibition Pavilion), Abuja.
He said that the event aimed at promoting digital economy transition, amplify Nigeria’s global competitiveness in digital economy, in other to achieve sustainable growth for the Nation.
“The objectives are to promote digital economy transition and global competitiveness of Nigeria as Africa’s digital economy leader.
“It is also to identify opportunities and challenges in Nigeria’s digital eco-space and to foster collaboration and partnership among stakeholders,” he said.
Oyefeso said that the event would be held in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on ICT Development and innovation; the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives; Waafa international foundation and Green City Africa Initiatives.
He listed highlights of the occasion will include unveiling of a book titled: Talent Reboot (Harnessing Nigeria youth Cybercrime skills for economic growth, and celebration of Nigerians that have excelled themselves in innovations and digital entrepreneurship.
Mr Olufowobi Desmond, President of Nigeria Nexus and co-convener of NYSConversation 3.0, stated that the event aimed to address the long-standing issue of cybercrime in Nigeria.
“The conversation will explore how to harness the strengths and talents of Nigerian youth to address our national economic challenges,” he said.
Desmond added that the event would also examine the current global economic reality and how to successfully transition Nigeria’s economy to prosperity using Information and Communication Technology.”
