The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN), has inducted more than 200 members to drive professionalism and accountability of project management in Nigeria.
The Registrar of CIPMN, Mr Henry Mbadiwe, speaking after the induction and closing ceremony of the three-day conference, described it as a new dawn for project management in Nigeria.
Mbadiwe expressed optimism that the members inducted and licensed would contribute immensely to national growth and development.
According to him, the new inductees were drawn from wide spectrum of society, including civil servants, private sector operators, chief executive officers of government agencies and directors of companies.
“Vice Chancellors of Universities, as well as the Special Adviser to the President on Project Monitoring and Coordination are also part of the group,” he said.
Mbadiwe said that human capital development remained the only way to scale up the nation’s Gross Domestic Product(GDP).
He said that the inductees would work assiduously to reduce waste in project management and to ensure increased productivity in the country.
He expressed CIPMN commitment to move past administration changes and limitations and begin to enforce the law establishing the Institute.
He said among such laws was the fact that unlicensed project managers ought not to practice within the country.
He then warned unlicensed project managers overseeing projects in Nigeria, to desist from such act forthwith or face the consequences of their actions.
According to Mbadiwe, CIPMN is the only statutory body empowered to regulate the practice of project managers in Nigeria.
The News Agency of Nigeria( NAN) reports that the three-day CIPMN induction and training programme which started on Aug. 27 ended on Aug. 29 with induction and certificate presentation.
The event’s theme was, ” The Digital Project Manager”.
