The Executive Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Council, Hon Iliya Ibn-Aliyu, has expressed concern over absenteeism and indiscipline among staff of the council.
This, the council boss said, was capable of affecting productivity in the area.
This is contained in a press release issued by Mr Usman Isa Adagazu, the Council Information Officer and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.
The statement said that the Chairman stated this while touring the council secretariat on Tuesday in Nassarawa Eggon LGA.
It would be reported that the council boss was accompanied by his Deputy, Mr Yusuf Mada and Council’s Secretary, Emmanuel Yaro among others.
The council boss assessed infrastructure, departmental offices, and various uncompleted projects in the council.
The statement said that the chairman’s expressed significant concerns about the secretariat’s condition, including staff absenteeism, low staff turn out, describing it as indiscipline amd sabotage.
Ibn-Aliyu described the secretariat condition as “unacceptable and reflective of deliberate neglect.
The Chairman subsequently declared an infrastructural emergency, pledging a complete renovation and modernization of the secretariat to enhance workplace efficiency.
“ The dilapidation here affects every corner of our secretariat.
” Not a single office is adequately equipped for effective service delivery.
The chairman said he is committed to renovating and furnishing these facilities to restore a conducive working environment.
He urged illegal occupants of council properties to vacate immediately or face legal action, emphasizing that “sanity must be restored within the council’s administration.
Ibn- Aliyu expressed disappointment over the deteriorated state of official residential facilities within the area.
It is also reported that during his tour, the Chairman also visited the uncompleted building designated as the Chairman’s residence at the Government Reserve Area ( GRA).
Also, the Chairman and his team inspected the Council’s Guest House and assessed government vehicles with mechanical issues.
He said plans are in place for necessary maintenance to restore these vehicles for efficient council operation.
