The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan sulaiman-Ibrahim, has commended the Naval Officers Wives Association (NOWA) for its economic empowerment drive for women.

The minister gave the commendation on Thursday during the unveiling and launching of the Sailor’s Wife Magazine at a National conference in commemoration of NOWA’s 59th Anniversary in Abuja

Sulaiman-Ibrahim was represented by her Senior Special Assistant, Dr jummai Idonije said that NOWA had continued to demonstrate unparalleled commitment to the empowerment of women, families and communities across Nigeria.

She said that their dedication to fostering unity, advancing education and creating opportunities for women aligned seamlessly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

“This administration is deeply committed to building a Nigeria where women and girls have equal access to opportunities and resources where families are strengthened and communities thrive.

“Through the Renewed Hope Agenda, we are reinforcing systems that uplift women as active contributors to national growth, ensuring their safety, dignity and full participation in society,” she said.

The minister commended the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu for her advocacy for women and children to inspire transformative change.

She said tht the conference conference coincided with a Global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

According to her, it is a campaign that calls all to action against the pervasive issue of violence that disproportionately affects women and girls.

“The theme, “Sailing in Unity” resonates deeply with the collective spirit required to address the multifaceted challenges before us.

“Just as a crew must work together to navigate turbulent waters, so must we join hands across sectors, governments, military, civil society and communities to create a Nigeria where every woman, man and child can achieve their fullest potential,” she added. (NAN
