Kheijah (Clan) community in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has called for the empowerment of the youths of the area in order to tackle youth restiveness and improve on their standard of living.
Dr Best Barau Nuhu, the Chairman of the community made the call during its Cultural Carnival tagged “Boher Day” in Boher, Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.
He said that the empowerment of the youths would not only tackle youth restiveness but would also tackle unemployment, promote peace, unity and development in the area.
The Chairman said that the carnival was organized in order to promote its culture, unity and peace irrespective of their differences in the area.
He also called for all hands to be on deck for the development of the community
” I want to appeal on the need for empowerment of Kheijah youths in skill acquisition, social development, town hall building project among others for the overall development of our community,” he said.
He appreciated all those, who graced the occasion and prayed God to grant them journey mercies to their various destinations.
Also speaking, Mr Silas Ali Agara, the Director General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE) commended the community for organizing the cultural carnival, saying that it would promote unity, peace and development in the area.
Agara, who is a former Deputy Governor of the state pledged to empower the youths of the community and other youths in different skills acquisition programmes to enable them become self reliance.
He said that if youths acquired different skills acquisition programmes, it would also go a long way in improving on their standard of living and they would become employers of labour.
The NDE DG also assured of his support to the development of the community.
On his part, Hon Larry Ven- Bawa, member Akwanga North Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, donated 70 bags of cement and cash donations of N1million for the construction of the community town hall.
Hon Ven- Bawa, who is the Chief Whip of the House assured of his continued commitment to empower the people of the community and other people of his constituency to better their standard of living.
Hon Ven- Bawa, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Health pledged continued sound and quality representation at the state legislature.
Hon Kwanta Yakubu, the immediate past Commissioner for Environment also harped on unity, peace, progress and development of the community.
Hon Kwanta assured of his continued readiness to contribute positively to the development of the community.
The former commissioner also called on all sons and daughters of the community as well as other well to do Nigerians to contribute to the development of the Community.
Earlier, the Chairman, of the Planning Committee Mr Bako said that the carnival was organized in order to promote its culture, unity and peace as well as development of the area.
He thanked dignitaries for attending the event and prayed God to bless them abundantly.
