The Nasarawa State Chapter of Keffi Old Boys Association (KOBA) has elected new officials of the Association to serve for the period of four years commencing from 5 February 2025.
Announcing the election results, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Pharmacist Mathew Jatau said the new Executive Council Officials of the Association were elected through consensus by members.
It would be reported that the election and swearing in ceremony took place during a meeting of the Association at the Nasarawa State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment Board Room, Lafia today.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee announced Alhaji Umar Shittu Isa, re-elected as President, Abubakar Akan Mohammed as Vice President, Abdul Abdul Rahman Keana as Secretary, Jude Ovey Allan as Assistant Secretary, Jibrin Isiaku Garba as Treasurer, Jibrin Gwamna as PRO. and Abdulazeez Bako as Legal Adviser.
Also elected were Mohammed Jibrin as PRO 2, Anthony Alaku as Financial Secretary, Zachariya Amagbon as Welfare Officer 1, Muhammad Lawal as Welfare Officer 2, Mr Benbella Madaki as Ex-Officio 1, and Muhammad Ubabu Akamo as Ex Officio 2 respectively.
In his acceptance speech, the KOBA President, Alhaji Umar Shittu appreciated members for giving him and other executive members the opportunity to serve again and pledged not to disappoint the Association.
He called on the members of the Association to give them all the necessary support to succeed.
” And encouragement to be able to deliver on the mandate of moving the Association forward.
” We can not do it alone, we need your support and cooperation as usual to achieve on the objective of the Association and also build on our past achievements “
” If you notice that, we are derailing from what we are suppose to do, please call our attention, we are human, we can make mistake.
” I pray that the mistakes and challenges we faced in the last tenure will be overcome for the good of our great KOBA” he said.
Earlier, the President in his opening speech before the dissolution of the former EXCOs, expressed appreciation to members for their support to his leadership in the last four years.
He said he has enjoyed the full support of EXCOs and other members which helped greatly in moving the Association forward.
Umar Shittu, however, decried poor attitude of members in the payment of annual dues of Two Thousand Naira which was later increased to Five Thousand Naira for the development of the Association.
He enumerated some of the Association’s challenges encountered during his tenure to include nonchalant attitude of members towards attending meetings and inability of the Executive to organize Annual General Meetings (AGMs)
Umar said that KOBA activities involved sacrifices from the leadership and individual members who contributed freely.
In his vote of thanks, Mr Sam Israel, the National Secretary of the Association appreciated members for turning out in their large numbers for the meeting and urged them to support the new EXCOs for the success of the Association.
He said, Nasarawa State is the host State of the College, saying that Nasarawa Chapter of the Association need to do more than what other States are doing in terms of organizing activities that will bring development to the Association and the school.
All together Thirteen people came on board out of which Two were Ex-officio, Eleven emerged as new officials with five former officials returned re-elected and Six are new ones.
It would be reported that the occasion climaxed with exchange of pleasantries by members and singing of the College song.
