Idris Ojoko Foundation, Nasarawa State, on Thursday says it would train 50,000 youths in different skills acquisition programmes in the next one year in the state.
He said is to enable youths acquire skills for self-reliance and contribute their quota positively to the development of the society.
The Founder, Mr Idris Ojoko said this at the unveiling of Idris Ojoko Foundation.
He also launched a book Titled: “Skills Acquisition and Employability: The Role of Technology in Self Employment and Manpower Productivity in Nigeria in Akwanga LGA.
Ojoko said that the foundation seeks to create opportunities for marginalised groups, support human capital development and contribute to sustainable socio-economic growth.
He said that the vision of the foundation is to build a self-reliant and empowered society through education, youth leadership, community development and sustainable socio-economic initiatives.
“The mission of this foundation is to empower individuals in the communities through education, leadership development and social impact initiatives.
“By fostering a society where every person has the opportunity to thrive, contribute and create lasting change,” he said.
“We have target, 50,000 youths that would be trained in different skills in the next one year in the state.
“Youths should embrace skills acquisition, especially when it relates to technology for self-reliance and to contribute their quota positively to national development,” he said
Ojoko appreciated all dignitaries that attended the event and wished them safe journey to their various destinations.
The Chairman of the Occasion, Sen. Mohammed Onawo, representing Nassarawa South senatorial district at the National Assembly, urged youths not to depend on their certificates but embrace skills acquisition in order to be self-reliant.
Onawo, was represented by Mr Jibrin Sabo-Keana, former chairman, Keana LGA, said that the importance of acquiring skills could not be overemphasised.
He said that the book is apt while assuring of his support to Ojoko to succeed.
He commended Ojoko for his efforts and urged those that come and other Nigerians to support the foundation to succeed.
The Guest Speaker, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, the Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, urged the youths and other Nigerians to embrace different skills acquisition programmes for self-reliance.
The VC, was represented by Dr Vincent Paul, Senior Lecturer, Department of Entrepreneurship Studies, said that all hands should be on deck to ensure that youths acquired skills that will help them.
She commended Ojoko for his efforts in empowering the youths and other people in the state.
On his part, Prof Usman Umar Shehu of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, the Book Reviewer while reviewing the 85 pages of the book has commended Ojoko for the excellent work done.
He said that the book was written in a simple language while urging the youths and other Nigerians to embrace skills and technology.
Gen. Nuhu Angbazo (rtd) Dr Aliyu Bello, the Nasarawa State APC Chairman, represented by Mohammed Sarkin, the State APC Administrative Secretary, Dr. Mike Abdul, former Deputy Governor, Nasarawa State.
Others are Mr John Mathew, A legal practitioner in Nasarawa State, among others appreciated Ojoko for establishing the foundation towards empowering the youths and other Nigerians.
They urged stakeholders and other Nigerians to invest in skills acquisition for the overall development of the country.
