Nasarawa State House of Assembly has been thrown into mourning following the demise of its Clerk Mr. Ego Maikeffi Abashe who died in the early hours of today Saturday as a result of protracted illness.

The Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau in a statement by his Press Secretary Jibrin Gwamna expressed deep shock over the death of the Clerk Mr Ego Maikeffi Abashe describing it as colossal and big blow to the legislative arm.

Speaker Jatau prayed God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal peace as well as console the family.

“This is one death too many to bear, may God bless his soul and comfort all of us” the Speaker said.

The Chairman Nasarawa State House of Assembly Service Commission Alh. Musa Isa Mustapha Agwai the first in a statement by the commission’s Secretary Muhammed Ohinoyi Musa described the death of the Clerk as a great lost not only to the family, the legislative institution but the entire State considering his contributions to the State Government praying God to bless his soul.

Lawmakers, management and staff of the House as well as the general public has continued to send in their condolences.

Mr Ego Maikeffi Abashe served as the Clerk of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for the past 15years as he took over in January, 2010 and was the longest serving Clerk of the House since the creation of the State in 1996.
